Anisakis in fish

Anisakis is a parasite that is naturally present in the marine environment. In general, it affects fish sold in any fish market in Spain. At Mercadona, all the possible controls and efforts are carried out to minimise its presence. For this reason, the Ministry of Health recommends freezing fish for 5 days, at least, if it is going to be consumed raw or undercooked, and, if not frozen, it must be cooked properly. If a product purchased from our store has Anisakis, please return it to any of our establishments.
