Mercadona and Animal Welfare

Here at Mercadona, we are committed to animal welfare, and that is why we work in conjunction with our suppliers to protect animals and ensure that they have the best living conditions.

As a result of this commitment, we implement, amongst others, the following measures:

• All our suppliers of milk, eggs and meat (including all poultry, pork, beef, rabbit and lamb) are certified in animal welfare according to internationally recognised standards supported by specialised bodies.
• All workers that work directly with the animal on the farm must be duly trained and instructed in animal welfare.
• All our suppliers have CCTV cameras installed in their slaughterhouses, making it possible to monitor compliance with good practices and proper animal handling.
